ACTIVITIES & DESTINATIONS
If you’re looking for something more than ranch days, there are plenty of cool spots to explore in the area:
The Hunt Store
20 minutes from Chinquapin Ranch
Damn good barbecue along with all the essentials and tchotchkes
you’d find at a small town general store.
Ingram Lake Dam
15 minutes from Chinquapin Ranch
It’s a post summer camp tradition to grab a raft and slide down the Ingram Dam. It’s also pretty fun to just float with a beer.
Kerrville
25 minutes from Chinquapin Ranch
It’s not the most scenic town but here you’ll find the closest grocery store (H-E-B) and a Texas size Walmart for all your weekend needs.
Kerrville River Trail
25 minutes from Chinquapin Ranch
A 6 mile long scenic, tree-covered trail along the Guadalupe River.
Fredericksburg
45 minutes from Chinquapin Ranch.
A very adorable old German town with a Main Street full of great restaurants, shops, and vineyards. Get your first Stetson hat
or a pair of cowboy boots.
Enchanted Rock State Park
1 hour from Chinquapin Ranch
Hike up this huge, round, pink granite mountain for the most
enchanting views and a pretty decent workout.
Whittington’s Jerky
602 US-281, Johnson City, Texas 78636
This is for those of you driving from Austin. This is the best, most authentic jerky you’ll ever taste and she’s right on the way to Chinquapin Ranch. You can’t go wrong with the original beef jerky, the turkey jerky, and especially the spicy turkey jerky. Keep an
eye out for the roaming chickens when you pull in.
